The high strength steel used in PEB has a minimum (Ys) of 345 MPa, which contributes to a reduction in steel consumption in general.

PEBs can be designed & erected with a max clear span of 100 m. with low steel qty. consumption.

Conventional Steel Building

Steel members are selected from standard hot rolled "I" sections, which are heavier than what is required by design.
Conventional "I" and "C" sections typically have a minimum (Ys) of 245 MPa, which translates into higher steel consumption.
Design Consulate redesigned each traditional steel structure from scratch, resulting in excessive design time and fewer design aids available to the engineer.

Extremely heavier foundation and more foundation due to constraints limiting narrower column spacing and supports across width.
Connections are often complicated & differ from project to project, resulting in longer assembly learning curves for new projects.
Heavy rigid structures do not work well in seismic zones
Especially at the supplier/contractor interface, multiple responsibilities can lead to questions of responsibility if components do not fit together properly, too little material is supplied or materials do not work.
